CARE of Flamingo Lily (Anthurium):
The Flamingo Lily is one of the few flowering houseplants that produces continuous flowers all year round. The Anthurium flowers come in many colors such as the well-known varieties of red, white, pink, but also purple, green and brown. The Anthurium is not only beautiful, but also easy to maintain and therefore one of the few flowering house plants that are suitable for the office.
Place: Place the Anthurium in a light place without direct sunlight for optimal flowering. Too much sunlight will lead to yellow foliage. Too little sunlight leads to green flowers or no flowers at all.
The most ideal location is in front of a north-facing window. It is best to keep a distance of one to two meters for a window on the west or east. A larger distance is possible for a south-facing window, provided the window is large enough and there is no sun protection.
Minimum temperature
Daytime: 16 ℃
At night: 10 ℃
Water: The anthurium does not consume much water, but should be kept in a continuously slightly moist soil. In the winter months, the soil may occasionally dry out a bit. In summer, the indoor plant should be watered more often. An Anthurium that has been given too much water will have brown spots with a yellow edge in the leaf, sometimes at the edges of the leaf. This is due to root rot and is the result of a constant layer of water in the pot. When an anthurium is located further from the window and therefore uses less water, the chance of rot is greater.
