CARE of Sweet Broom (Cytisus):
A plant that brings with it the feeling of spring, that certainly applies to the chamber broom. Not only does it bloom in a cheerful shade of yellow, it also smells wonderful.
Location: The chamber broom likes a light, sunny place. In the winter months it likes to be a little cooler, so put it in an unheated room (6-10 ° C), where it is light enough.
Despite its name, the chamber broom can also be placed outside. However, it is moderately hardy, so it is best to treat it as a container plant.
Water: The soil should be kept slightly moist. However, the room broom does not like to stand with its roots in a layer of water, so that must be avoided. Tap water is fine for this plant, as it likes a calcareous soil. Its water requirement is lower in the winter months, so adjust your watering accordingly.
Tip: prune the plant back after flowering.
