CARE of Beaucarnea:
The Beaucarnea, also called Elephant's Foot in Belgium, is the ideal houseplant when you have little time for care. This houseplant likes direct sunlight and requires little water. The trunk of the elephant's foot plant stores water, so let the soil of a Beaucarnea dry out before the houseplant is watered again. A Beaucarnea is quite sensitive to too much water. Easy to care for and ideal for the living room or office.
Location The Beaucarnea is very easy in terms of location. The plant can be placed in a sunny to partial shade spot. It is important that the Beaucarnea is not placed in a place where it is very dark/completely shaded. Growth will then stop and eventually the plant may die.
Water The “leg” of the Beaucarnea is very functional. You can compare it to the hump of a camel; it stores water so that it has enough moisture to withstand dry conditions. This means that the Beaucarnea can easily go without water for a while, without the plant sustaining damage. The Beaucarnea belongs to the palm family, so a moist soil is perfect, but it should not be too wet.
