CARE Lawson cypress, or Port Orford cedar (Chamaecyparis):
The Lawson Cypress will last for many years and give your landscape a beautiful look for a very long time.
To water: Newly planted Lawson Cypress trees should be watered gently during the initial period. Water every time the first 5 cm of the soil is dry. However, you should remember that sometimes too much of a good thing is not good either, so don't overwater the plant. Once these are established, they don't need water until the drier summer period.
Fertilization: Fertilizing the Lawson Cypress is only necessary when the plant is still young. A plant that is almost mature no longer needs additional nutrients. Apply a one-time fertilizer in the spring and again as the end of summer approaches. Apply the fertilizer according to the instructions on the package.
Pruning: One of the best advantages of the Lawson Cypress is that it requires little pruning. However, if you do find branches with different colored leaves, you can remove them. Remove the dead branches of the dwarf cypress near the trunk of the tree.
