CARE of Heather (Calluna):
Calluna Vulgaris Beauty Ladies High Five, summer heather, is a so-called bud bloomer: the rich amount of flowers does not open completely, so that it can bloom for a long time. The scale-like leaves are green all year round. This robust, low shrub plant looks good in planters on your patio. This ground cover is a welcome addition to sturdy rock gardens. Plant in groups for a beautiful continuous blanket of heather!
Planting instructions: The heather requires little maintenance. Give it a spot in the sun or partial shade, on an acidic, sandy, moist and well-drained soil. A clay soil is less ideal. It is important to provide the heather plants with water, especially in the beginning. The young plants can dry out quickly. Give the plant extra nutrition by adding garden peat. Do not use lime! This makes the soil less acidic. Prune the summer heather after winter, in March, to keep it in shape and for fresh, young shoots.
Tip: Calluna high five grew up together in a pot. Do not separate them, but give them a place together in the ground or in a pot on your patio or balcony.
