CARE of Firecracker Flower (Crossandra infundibuliformis 'Fortuna'):
The Crossandra is an exotic sub-shrub, commonly known as the Firecracker flower, native to the tropical climates of southern India and Sri Lanka. In its birthplace, it is often used in traditions such as making flower garlands and decorating hair.
Beautiful, dark green, glossy foliage covers these well-branched plants and provides the perfect backdrop for the orange-apricot bloom. Crossandra infundibuliformis 'Fortuna' is specially bred to produce an extravagant display of blooms all summer long - perfect for brightening up the conservatory or sunny room indoors. During the hottest summer months, Crossandra can be moved to a sheltered, sunny spot on the patio. This tender evergreen requires warm conditions all year round, above 15 degrees.
Water Crossandra plants regularly to maintain evenly moist compost. Houseplants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. During the hottest summer months, Crossandra can be moved to a sheltered, sunny position on the patio, with some sun protection during the hottest parts of the day. At the end of the summer, put it back indoors in a warm place.
