CARE of Christmas Rose (Helleborus):
There are conditions for beautifully healthy plants, namely absolutely no wet feet in winter, but do not plant them in a windy place either. Give them fertile and well-drained soil.
If you plant a Hellebore, make sure you have a large planting hole that provides you with plenty of compost and/or well-rotted leaf soil. It is a forest plant by nature and therefore likes a humus-rich, moist and well-drained soil. Once planted, your Hellebore does not like being transplanted.
When the flower buds appear (December), the old leaves can be removed so that the flowers look much better. Old leaves often give off a fungus, which they can pass on to the flower buds, causing them to bloom damaged. The flowers change color from white to green and then seed pods appear on the flower that gradually become thicker.
