Annual plants or bedding plants

Would you like to brighten up your terrace or balcony as quickly as possible? Then bedding plants, also known as annual plants, are the perfect choice! They do not need much care, just make sure they always have enough water. Then you can enjoy it until autumn! But what are bedding plants? And which types of bedding plants can you choose from? Discover them here.

What are bedding plants?

Bedding plants are annual plants that are specially grown to brighten up your garden, terrace or balcony. The annual bedding plants are available from spring (April-May) until August. Then it is the turn of the autumn plants.

How and when to plant bedding plants?

It is important to know that annual bedding plants are not winter hardy. So they will not survive frost. This means that it is best not to plant them until mid-May (ice saints), when the risk of night frost is no longer there. Have you planted bedding plants before and do they predict a cold night? Then protect them with a cloth.

Some tips for bedding plants and abundant flowering:

    • Fill the pots with potting soil, up to 2cm below the edge.
    • Water every day. The excess water will flow away automatically.
    • Remove dead flowers.
    • Add plant food after a month.
    • And enjoy it as much as possible!
