CARE for the Cyclamen:
The Cyclamen, also known as Alpenviool, is a sturdy tuberous plant that rewards you with an abundance of flowers – sometimes up to ten at once! The flowers come in elegant shades of white, lilac, pink, purple, or red, while the leaves are equally charming: velvety soft with beautiful patterns and often a purple-tinged underside.
Location:
Place your Cyclamen in a bright, cool spot. The ideal temperature is between 13 and 16°C (55-61°F). Avoid direct sunlight and keep the plant away from warm radiators.
Watering:
The best way to water is from below:
-
Place the pot once a week in a water bath or on a saucer with water.
-
Let the plant soak up water for about an hour.
-
Remove any excess water afterwards to prevent root rot.
Fertilizing:
Feed the plant with fertilizer for flowering plants every two to three weeks to encourage continuous blooming.
Outdoors? Yes, but be careful!
As long as it doesn’t freeze, you can place the Cyclamen outside in a sheltered spot. Bring the plant indoors again if frost is expected.
Encouraging Blooming:
Remove faded flowers and yellowed leaves by gently pulling them off at the base. This stimulates the plant to produce new flowers.
