CARE of Monkey Mask or Five Holes plant (Monstera):
This Five holes plant is a small plant that is also known as Monkey Mask. The houseplant has holes in the middle of the leaf. A very different look than the popular Monstera Deliciosa, where the holes appear at the end of the leaf. The Monstera is a hemi-epiphyte: a plant that can grow on the ground as well as on other plants/trees/rocks. In the latter case, the plant climbs up with aerial roots.
Keep the potting soil slightly moist by regularly watering small amounts. This also prevents a layer of water from forming at the bottom of the pot, which the Monstera absolutely does not like. Place the plant in a light spot, out of direct sunlight. We also recommend spraying the leaf regularly with a plant sprayer, since the Hole plant likes high humidity.
No notches in the blade?
Do you notice that there are no holes or indentations in the blade? Although this is normal with young leaves, with mature leaves it may mean that you have to change something in terms of care. The most likely causes are:
Lack of light
Cold air
Too little water
Too little plant nutrition
With large plants, the water and food may not reach the upper leaves. You can remedy this by pressing the aerial roots into the potting soil.
