CARE of Lantana:

Lantana is an easy patio plant. By nature it is a more or less thorny shrub that can reach a height of 2.5 cm. Twigs and leaves are hairy. Pruning is necessary to keep the plants compact. You can prune the longest and heaviest branches back to about half. Pruning is best done in February/March.

Location: The plant does not tolerate night frost. From mid-May (after the ice saint) the Lantana can be placed outside in a sunny place. Place the plant in pots with humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Ensure good drainage. Repotting is best done in the spring. Provide some food regularly during the flowering period. The plant is best brought indoors before the first night frost and overwintered in a bright place at a temperature of 10°C. When hibernating in a dark room, the leaves will fall off. Ventilate the room regularly to prevent insect and disease infestation.

Flowering: The plant blooms profusely with tubular flowers that change color (hence the Dutch name). To prolong flowering, it is best to prune away the faded flowers. Poisonous berries appear after flowering. The flowers attract plenty of butterflies.

Watering: During flowering, the plant must be watered regularly. The soil should never become dry. Use pots that have a drainage hole. Cover the bottom with a layer. Keep the root ball moist and do not let it dry out. In winter the plant can be kept fairly dry
